Siren’s Song

Siren’s song like well-intended honey-
pour it softly next to the depressed
bee, forming a wavy lifeline.

Siren’s song as the foundations
which keep one person upright
as they pull another off the floor.

Siren’s song like the cling film
around a half-eaten egg fried rice
so that you can enjoy it twice over.

Siren’s song as a scalpel to a pulsing
heart. Nerves steady as dried plaster
in the presence of a limping tumour.
